I just thought I would drop by to post some of the happening I know about for
all to see. It was great to travel with everyone and I hope to be able to do
it again in July. Please fee free to add to, fill in holes or note inconsistancies
with my writings so that all can know of the events of the gathering.
Assorted notes:
Minotaur:
The Viscount made a treaty with the Thorndark of the Tri-horn tribe of minotaur
on Sunday, and Squire Cormack (sq. to Baroness Kittery) will be recording and
tracking the minotaur in the area. The IronHoof? were fought honorably in a
town whose name I have misplaced, and the town was retaken without casualty.
Other tribes were negotiated with and fought, and one tribe (name also misplaced)
took captives and was defeated in the outskirts of Avendale. A single member
of same tribe approached Baron Algorian, trying to make terms for peace with
him.
There are a few dissenting members of the Tri-horn tribe, and it is suggested
that if possible, any who claim to be of the tri-horn tribe and who attack should
be subdued and brought to Squire Cormack or brought back to their tribe for
punishment. The leader of the Tri-horn tribe is one known as Lycanthro, a name
apparently from his spellcasting or rock throwing ability. As the Tri-horn has
no distiguishing marks or banners, it is best to ask of any minotaurs tribe
before attacking. I think it should be mentioned that some who are not honorable
wish to attack us may claim to be tribes with which we have treaties. I think
we should all consider this before considering a tribe to be breaking a treaty.
Many other tribes are known to be divided more than the Tri-horn. The Viscount
hopes to open more negotiations with the minotaur in the future, so as to gain
allies and strength and to not fight more adversaries at once than is necessary.
The minotaur also know more of the area to the north than we do, so they may
be able to aid in exploration of the areas in which they live.
Black Unicorn, Boris:
The Black Unicorn named Boris, sent his assassins in to Avendale (as I think
most know) after a party went to his lair and attacked him and his minions.
His assassins were apparently corrupted forms of hoblings and biata corrupted
through the Lord of the Haunted Wood. Though Boris claimed to be "retired"
from the service of the Lord of the Haunted Wood, he is considered to be hostile
to Avendale. Because those he sought perished in the fights that took place
Saturday night and Sunday afternoon (Squire Cormack, Baroness Kittery, Bling
and Squire Jokarius), one of his assassins said that the debt was considered
paid and no more lives would be taken unless we attack his lair. It is highly
suggested that any undertakings in the area of his lair be communicated to the
nobility before any action.
Squire Jokarius lost his life in a consented honor combat with one of the assassins
of Saturday night. Squire Cormack decided to take his own life to prevent further
loss of lives on Sunday afternoon. I do not know the details of Bling's and
Baroness Kittery's deaths. All of those who died should be honored for losing
their lives in defense of others and for their bravery.
Silvermyst:
The Silvermyst remains an area of conflict. Saturday night, the Lord of the
Haunted Wood came to Avendale to negotiate a truce with the Viscount. Possible
terms were discussed and a truce was declared for the time of a month to determine
what actions should be taken in the future. On Sunday, however, the Spirit Tree
of the Lady of the Wood came to Avendale. The Tree demanded that Rhianna, a
champion of the Lady, be freed at all costs from captivity of the Lord of the
Haunted Wood. The Tree itself may or may not be fae-folk, but the fact remains
that many who are involved in the care of the Silvermyst are bonded to the Tree.
When Avendale refused to aid the Tree, the Tree took the free will of those
who were bonded and rifted them to the home of the Lord of the Haunted Wood,
in direct violation of the treaty. The Tree then forcibly rifted others needed
to aid the original group in the ritual it wanted done (the ritual was thought
to require one of each race, though the Tree succeeded only in getting most
races). The Lord of the Haunted Wood refused to believe that the people of Avendale
who were rifted to his home were there agianst their will and he considers the
treaty to have been broken. If anyone is interested in the Silvermyst, Baroness
Kittery is coordinating the actions of Avendale within the forest, and you can
talk to her.
Also, the Baroness and myself are looking for any information regarding the
Silvermyst, the Lord of the Haunted Wood and the Lady of the Wood that can be
gathered. While the Baroness knows much about the Silvermyst, I think it is
the to benefit of all of Avendale to determine the solution to the problem of
these two warring fae factions.
Some of what I have gathered from the Baroness and others includes:
- The Lord is unseelie fae and the Lady is seelie, they are thought to tied
together in a balance, where one may not exist without the other... or alternately
that either wishes to take the whole forest for themself. Any information to
prove one side of the other would be useful.
- The positions of the the Lord and Lady are ancient posts. The last Lord was
killed when he fought Duke Valerian of the Silvermyst two years ago and was
replaced by the current Lord. Should any information be known about the past
Lords and Ladies, I think it would be of use.
- The Lord considers himself to be entitled to two baronies of the Silvermyst,
leaving the Lady with approximately the same. From reports and investigation,
it appears either would be satified with ridding the lands of the other entirely.
- The Lord is a known necromancer. His manor is guarded by powerful undead.
He is said to corrupt with a touch and to decay the land on which he passes.
He has captured the living in the past and corrupted them to use as his minions
and slaves. He should not to be underestimated.
- It is unknown how the positions of the Lord and Lady were created or came
to be.
Scorpion Barbarians:
I know the least about this... however, the Scorpion attacked with minotaur
allies, undead mummies and other creatures and large bugs, one of which I saw
infest or infect Coretalles. Coretalles should be Identified and most likely
killing blowed and given a Life spell, if this has not been done already. It
appeared to be similar to the way in which I have seen brood infest people in
the past.
Several people, including Cyric Bane I believe, resurrected in the battle. I
would like to make a list of whose who did so that they may be honored for their
efforts and for their bravery.
Garion was carried into the woods by a lone scorpion barbarian, and Telaris
ran out into the woods to save him. As more of the minotaur and barbarians left
town in the same direction, Telaris soon found himself in need of saving. A
man from the Shaidu Garrison aided both, but then was captured and ressurected.
Both Telaris and Garion were found alive. I would like to thank the man who
bravely gave his life to save both of them, and to thank Nehvarr who tried to
run to Garion's aid as well. Indeed, the efforts of all were greatly appreciated.
I know there are many other things I missed, but I have to leave space on the
cabin walls for someone else.
