Things I've learned as a Kobold
By Meilah Bladehowler
First off I'd like to apologize to those that had to put up with me all gathering
and thank you all for not killing me for being so overly annoying.
Now, here is a list of things I learned from my experience as a Kobold.
1. Silver obsession is interesting.
The fascination with silver was an interesting experience. Not only did it fascinate me, but I couldn't help but want it all the time. The obsession was there every minute, all the time. Imagine a euphoria addict, but to a lesser degree. Just the mere sight of the metal was exciting and the need for it only grew as time went on. So much was I obsessed that I even contemplated making silver chain mail curtains for my bedroom and a silver chain mail bedspread. Thankfully that isnt the case anymore.
2. Dodging is fun.
Its no secret to anyone that Kobolds are spry little creatures, something I experienced first hand. Having never been able to dodge so quickly before I was prone to jump out of the way of things that really werent practical, such as sleeps and pins, yet not to avoid fear or death spells. Had I been born with the ability or learned it through training I doubt itd have done it so carelessly.
3. Size does not matter.
Even though my size was decreased due to the transformation my skill with a sword did not decrease, in fact, it increased a great deal. During that time I gained the knowledge on how to attack the vulnerable areas of the back and strike an enemy unconscious with one heavy blow. Although the decrease in size did have some drawbacks. For one I was not able to withstand as much combat as I could before. My poor little body could not take it. Secondly, the high squeaky voice. Such a drawback could lead you to drink and for some it did.
4. Kobolds have strange mating rituals.
Late on the second night of the gathering a kobold by the name of Darick came into the tavern seeking food. After talking to him for some time he offered me a silver and I took it happily. Then he informed me that it meant I had to marry him. To his dismay I returned his silver and declined his offer. Trust me, it was in his best interest that I declined his offer.
5. Im happiest being Wolven.
During my brief time as a kobold I came to appreciate and love what I truly am more then ever. Had the transformation been permanent I would have lost a lot of things near and dear to me. Glenn was extremely patient and understanding with me the whole way through. He never threatened me to lose my position or that I was any less myself for what I had become. He also worked to try and get it removed, but I refused to have him owe the fae any type of favor. And now that the fae carnival is over I am back to my normal happy Wolven self. A big thank you goes to everyone for indulging me in what had to be a painful experience for all those involved.
With that said, I have reached my fae mushroom quota for the year
not
that this will stop me next year!
